About NAAHP

Founded in 2011, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) – Formerly known as the National Association of Haitian Professionals (NAHP) – is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established by diverse group of forward-thinking industry experts, youth leaders, faculty, public and nonprofit sector professionals from Haiti and its global diaspora. NAAHP is focused on connecting a global community of peers with career advancement resources as well as fostering transformative relationships between NAAHP members and committed stakeholders to rebuild Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.

HISTORY:

In December 2008, a group of former classmates and friends from Essex County College in New Jersey assembled to discuss the need for a diverse and transformative professional organization that would help its members find synergy between career advancement in their chosen field, philanthropy and social entrepreneurship as a means to engage in Haiti’s ongoing rebuilding and development efforts. In April 2011, the organization was formally established as the National Association of Haitian Professionals (NAHP). The organization announced its name change to the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) at the 4th Annual Conference in November 2015.

VISION:

To be the leading networking organization for professionals and students interested in career advancement and leveraging the transformative power of collective action to create solid partnerships that use advocacy, catalytic philanthropy and social entrepreneurship to promote inclusive, effective and lasting socio-economic progress in Haiti.

MISSION:

NAAHP seeks to be a reliable central gathering point for networking between students and professionals of Haitian descent who are interested in career advancement strategies and opportunities. NAAHP also prides itself on its focus on fostering the diaspora’s engagement in advocacy efforts, philanthropic and social entrepreneurship projects directly tied to promoting sustained social and economic success in Haiti.

Our objective is to generate increased access to capital for Haitian businesses, raise the number of low-income students of Haitian descent that graduate from college and expand civic participation and leadership in our communities.

How do we do this? Through annual conferences, interactive workshops, seminars and panel discussions that help professionals and students successfully navigate their field. NAAHP also enlists expert speakers from around the world to impart their knowledge with NAAHP members and stakeholders about various topics, including: public health, education, agriculture, trade, tourism and professional development.
